Does the lincoln continental 2001 have a transmission sensor that will tell the transmission to shut down when it has no trans fluid in the trany? Hose broke, all trans fluid emptied and car just stopped! Is trans OK and hose needs to be fixed and trany filled withe new trans fluid OR is trans froze-up and needs to be replaced??

The transmission can be damaged from excessive clutch plate slippage due to low fluid, . . . over a period of time. You're not going to damage it that quickly from a popped hose.
