Should a low mileage older car be driven a lot before it gets too old

My girlfriend's car spent the first 4 years mainly in a garage. It has been out in Wisconsin (winters and all) ever since. She has just this past month moved it to San Francisco. The car right now only has 35k miles on it. She is debating making a fairly long commute with this car daily to work (roughly 80 miles a day). She is hesitant to do it however because of the wear on the car. My question is sort of it its worth it to be putting this kind of mileage on it at this point (I feel that it is). I know regular maintenance costs will increase like oil changes tires etc, but is it worth the wear on the engine and whatnot? I am just worried that its getting kind of old and if she does not use it a decent amount now something serious could go wrong because of its age and she would end up not getting the use out of it that she could have.

Any advice on this is greatly appreciated!
I am sorry if this is the wrong topic I found the one that I thought matched most closely.

It's not going to change much by driving it a longer distance the shorter trip's put more wear and tear in a shorter time frame then the longer trip's. Thing's are going to break when they break that's just life.I don't think she bought the car to be a collector car if she did she bought the wrong car lol. She only has few choice's drive that car or sell it and get a new one or a used one and the new or used car can break down just as easy as the one she has now.
