Help with my CRV's violent vibration?

The check engine light came on recently, my CRV will start rattling violently when I am at a stop, or starting to accelerate, it also has slowed down my car a bit. The exhaust seems to stutter. A friend of mine suggested it could be the spark plugs arcing, is this it?

No CEL? Does sound like misfire is occurring. Plugs would be good place to check first. You can check for spark arcing by watching under hood when it's dark. You can spray mist water on spark related parts to encourage it to show itself.
