What is the problem with my truck it will not start & steering column will not lock?

MY GEAR LEVER WAS FORCED DOWN WHEN THE KEYS WERE NOT IN THE IGNITION & NOW MY TRUCK WILL NOT START OR STEERING COLUMN WILL NOT LOCK, I HAVE A 2001 GMC YUKON XL

I assume someone tried to steal it. They most likely damaged the column and it needs repairs. Can you take a picture and post? Your going to have to get in there and see what's broken sounds like the shift linkage arm may have broken. Also the steering wheel lock sounds broken. Was it stolen?
