Hi,
I have a GMC Sierra 2500 (6.0L, 8 cyl.). The engine block is broken by cylinder failure. Plz. see the attached image. The hole is 4" long. I need to know if the engine is repairable?
Thank you,
Alan

Blocks can be welded up but that is a real expensive procedure reserved for expensive industrial engines. It's not economically feasible for your truck. Plus, you still have the cost of repairing the original failure.

Welding cast iron requires heating it for a long time, probably hours, with a flame before welding or it will shatter. You'd have to ask the folks at an engine rebuilding and machining shop.
