When I took the starter off of my car there was a gasket in between it and the flywheel. Can you tell me what this gasket is? After I removed this flywheel the gasket was loose, is this ok or do I need to replace the gasket or put sealer on it? Or will it tighten back snug when I put the starter on?

There are no gaskets on any starters. That may have been a metal plate that some use that would be re-used.

It's not on the starter its on the motor in between where the starter goes and the flywheel. Is there one there or is it just a spacer for in between the starter and flywheel

There are no gaskets associated with a starter in any way.
