I am trying to figure out which of the 3 wires goes to the high beam on the headlights for a 2001 ford taurus LX. I am trying to install a high beam flasher kit for my work. There are 3 wires that come out of the bulb socket and i need to cut the high beam and wire in a wire to the control box. The 3 colored wires are: red with black stripe, dark green with red stripe, and light green with black stripe SEE PHOTO

Here is what i am trying to install:

Use a voltmeter and check one wire for power when the low beams are on. Then turn on the high beams and check for power to the next wire. The third wire is the ground wire.

How do I do that? Do I touch ground wire from voltmeter to engine block and the positive wire from voltmeter to each wire. Is there any other way around cutting all 3 wire and testing each other?
