2001 Ford Ranger 4 0 Liter V6 Reason Engine Will Over 3000 Rpms Put Park Push

my ranger is a 4.0 liter v6, for some reason the engine will not go over 3000 rpms, i put it in park push the gas pedal and it stops at 3000 rpms almost like its governed!!!! Any suggestions!

It could be a couple things, mass air flow sensor, MAP sensor, TPS... Has the check engine light come on?
