2001 Ford F-150 transmission or transfer case

While driving my truck seemed to slip or jump in and out of gear a few times. Then it just won't go into gear or move except in reverse. Took of transmission oil pan to change filter and fluid there was a bit of metal fuzz on the bottom of the pan. Where do I need to start. Thank you in advance for any help it also made a whining noise right before it quit

sorry to say this is going to be a job for a transmission shop.maybe a bad clutch pack they need to find where you are loosing pressure.

The whining noise is not good it sounds like the transmission has had an internal failure, but it could be the filter is clogged it might be worth it to service the transmission and change the filter, here is a video to show you how:
