2001 Ford Escort car shuts off

When my car is driving it runs good but when I start slowing down it ideals low in the rpm then even will turn off when I stop I had a new tranny put in a year ago it sat for awhile but runs good other then turning off when I stop

The first two things to check, make sure there are no vacuum leaks on the engine and check the idle air control valve (IAC). The IAC, located on the throttle body, is responsible for maintaining the engine idle speed.
