My ford escape is stuck in park. I had to leave it at the corner store. I noticed on the way there that the dash lights were flasing on and off. In attempting to leave the store the car started right up as usual but I could not get it out of park. I tried pushing on the brake still no luck.

Check the brake lights to see if they are working. When they fails, the interlock would prevent the shift from being shifted out of park. If brake lights don't work, check the brale fuse.

Your vehicle does not have any emergency override functions so you would have to try turning the ignition to ON and deprssing the brake pedal to tryto activate the interlock shift solenoid. However if the brake lights do not work, the solenid is not going to release.
