How to get the spark plug boots off?

How do you get the spark plug (OEM) boots off of a 2001 Chevy Silverado 5.3? Tried angle pliers and flimsy boot removal tool but not much luck. They just don't want to come off.

They aren't easy if they have been non for along time. Try to twist with plug wire tool then pull off. Also there is a tool that has an edge that catches the wire boot at the bottom to pull off. Don't besureprised fi they break either way though.
