Recently installed new brakes. ABS light comes on as soon car is put into gear. 2001 chevy malibu

You could've pulled on one of the wheel speed sensor wires or damaged the sensor itself on accident.
Just have the computer scanned with a scanner capable of reading ABS codes. It'll point you directly to the problem.
