What is the purpose of the EGR valve and where is it?

The EGR works by returning a small amount of exhaust gas to the engine's combustion chambers. It does this through the intake manifold. By doing this, it lowers the combustion temperatures and reduces the amount of NOx emitted into the atmosphere.

On your vehicle, the EGR valve is located toward the rear of the engine. I attached a pic below and highlighted it for you to see.

If you plan to replace it, the remaining pics are the directions specific to your vehicle for replacement.
