Engine has low idle while driving

I have too hold my foot on the gas so my car will stay on when I start it and when I come to a stop I have to use the brake and gas or it will die

Try cleaning the throttle plate on both sides an diac hole with choke cleaner then check fuel pressure if still doing it. Autoparts rent gauge

Would that cause the engine light to come on with diff emcee code all the time

Not necessarily, have it scanned for codes and check fuelpressure with a gauge. Next time let us know the engine light is on
