When this problem first happen I was driving and it just all of a sudden after I came out of a stop it would not shift out of first. I put it I'm slap shift and still nothing. Finally I came to a stop and tried going in reverse nope nothing. I put a new battery on it along with a start 3 months back. If you have any ideas the would be very appreciated.

With these types of transmissions, your problem can be either mechanical or electrical. If you have not surfaced the transmission fluid is dark start there. If in doubt, take the transmission pan off and drain the fluid. Look for bits of metal or darkness, and thick black or gray substance in the bottom of the pan. That's clutch material and or metal bits. If it's clean then it's probably an electrical issue like the vehicle speed sensor or the transmission control module itself. These will generally set a code.
