2000 Volvo V70 heating

All of a sudden superheated steam pores out of all my vents the engien at normal temp heat and fan off, green light on ac but no fan hav had sme problem with defroster in the past. When everything got cool I checked coolant and it was very low, car runs good but nervoes if I have the fan on and it happens again I did burn my foot. Thanks lenny

Did it smell like coolant when the super hot air came out of the vents a sweet smell?

Not that I noticed Igot out of the car fast becuce of my foot and the car filled up with steam and remember the coolant was very low maybe it was kow becuse of what happend

The only thing that really makes sense to me is your heater core suddenly started leaking. Is your carpet all wet?

Not usually the only thing in your dash that can make that steam your talking about that I can think of is your heater core leaking in your dash.I would have your cooling system pressure tested and checked for leaks.
