I'm thinking of buying a 2000 vw passat and the brake light is always on and it wont pass smog. The person I'm trying to get it from is claiming that it's not passing smog because the break light is on and the break light is on because it has a after market radio deck. She says if u take the deck out the break light will go off and it will pass smog. This sounds funny to me can this be true?

That is an interesting one, I would suggest that she removes the radio to see if the light goes out. If that is preventing it from passing smog inspection, I would fix it before trying to sell it.
