Battery light came on last night. Checked voltage listed 12.5v. Swapped out alternator for new unit still same problem. Alt output to positive battery terminal shows 12.5 volts in off key removed. Car dies if positive battery terminal removed. I am thinking I have a fusible link issue but I am having trouble finding a diagram.

Never unhook the battery cable with the engine running or key on. Which engine do you have?

With the key in the run position engine off. You should have battery voltage at the black wire with a green stripe? Also the white wire should have battery voltage? Then the red wire with a blue stripe should have battery voltage all at the alternator connections.

Went to move the car to the garage to check the wires and lost all power into the cab. Burned out the 100 amp main. Thats telling me I have a ground fault that is pretty significant. Will replace fuse in the morning and check wires.

Squirrels is what I found. Had to pull the front end trim off and repair the wires chewed up by the critters. Replaced the 100amp fuse after ohming out the primary systems. Everything works properly. Should have though of squirrels first. Thanks for the tips though.
