My engine was making a grinding sound, and when I went to check my oil, none was registering, so we added 3 quarts, however it was still 200 miles from my scheduled oil change. Which means something is burning my oil. We didnt see any signs of an oil leak, but did find wet black oil sitting inside my exhaust pipe. What could be causing that? Should I be worried?

This is diffenatly a serious problem, oil in your exhaust can be caused by blown oil piston rings or blown valve seals. If the car gives off white smoke its the valve seals, if it gives off blue smoke its the oil piston rings.

If you see no leaks around the engine, have you ever noticed blue smoke from the exhaust?
