What is the proble with my car, when I try to accelerate the car does not move fast rather it slows down and the rev reading falls back to 1 rev per hr just as it it when the car is being started. The car does not off but moves based on the 1 rev per hr.

my technician said he feels it is due to bad air flow sensor while another said Ishould change the fuel pump.
what do I do?

Thanks in anticipation

Do you have a check engine light on and when was the last tune-up?

Could be caused by one of the following below

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing.
