My 2000 Saturn Wagon sounds like chipmunks when I accelerate and has a slight burn smell. It is also accelerating a little late.

Chipmunks meaning squeaking?If so is the noise worse with the a/c on?Do you have any code's?

Yes kind of a squeaking sound, its kind of hard to describe but its not very loud. I do not believe the a/c was on. Could it have to do with the transmission fluid or fan belt?

Next time you hear it see if it's coming from the belt are you could have a bad belt/weak belt tenisor see if it's worse with a/c on.
