I have a 2000 saturn sl1 135000 km on it and im having problems with my heater it blows the air fine but the car even after warming up for 90 minutes blows only warm air and then sometimes cuts out and blows cold air? Someone suggested the thermostat and having it replaced but there not sure if that would even work and is 100 bucks with labor to do

I need you to answer a couple of questions does the upper and lower radiator hoses get really hot? Also there is two heater hoses going into the firewall that hook to the heater core. Are both those hoses getting really hot when the engine reaches normal operating temp? Also at what temp reading on the gauge does the temp read after its warmed up?

Sounds like the thermostat is good then. Are both heater hoses going into the heater core in the fire wall getting hot. If not then you could have a plugged/restricted heater core.
