What could be wrong with my motor. I have a 2000 saab 9-3 turbo and I drove with the motor making a loud slapping noise. Then eventually it just stolp running all together. I tried to start it one day and the engine started smoking and was about to catch on fire. Now it doesn't run. I been trying to figure out whats wrog with it and if I can rebuild the motor or replace something. I took the block apart and the inside looks good and like brand new.

U sound like u had a bad possible a # 4 piston that is bad caused by detonation damage, what is the condition of the pistons look for scar marks on the piston sides, than check piston sleeve also, post back with answer.
