Why does my Neon stalls when I step on the brake

It started a day ago when coming from work. I came to a stop and the engine started shaking like it had a vacuum leak. The check engine light started blinking and the car stalled. It starts up easy but every time I steped on the brake pedal it will stall. I checked the stop light switch. While holding the brake pedal down with one hand and the stop light switch button with the other hand the car kept run. When I let go of the switch the engine would stall. So I installed a new switch thinking that, that was the problem, but is wasn't. I would appreciate if you help me out.

Will the engine faulter if idling in park and foot on the brake?

No sir it stalls on drive when I step on the brake to stop at a red light or step sign.

Clean the idle control system, I do not think thyat this is related to the brakes, if the booster was faulty it would normally faulter at idle as well, have you checked for any fault codes yet?

Sorry I missed understood your first answer. Yes Sir the engine will stall when idling in park and I step on the brake. I have no problem starting it back up. Only when I have my foot on the brake. Thanks again.
