I have a 2000 Lincoln LS V6 sport edition that is stuttering from time to time. I just recently got a tune up where I had the spark plugs and coil packs replaced. What else could be causing the car to stutter?

When do you feel this? Has the check engine light come on?

No. I currently do not have my check engine light. It is stuttering in any gear as well as in park.

Usually a sensor or misfire will turn on the check engine light. So, with that said, we need to look at the fuel system. Have you checked fuel pump pressure?

I had the fuel filter replaced when I got the spark plugs and coil packs changed with the tune-up. I thought it may be an O2 sensor or a catalytic converter causing yhe problems.

Also my car registers empty at a quarter tank. Would this be the problem?

The gauge is most likely the result of a bad rheostat on the float in the fuel tank. If it was an O2 sensor, it should have set the check engine light. Have you tried fuel injection cleaner?
