My 2000 jeep grand cherokee larado started knocking its still runs with no problem but its knocking and when give it gas the knocking has a slite screaching noise with it what would cause this and how do I fix it

Check the vibration damper to see if it's loose. That will also cause the belt to slip and squeal.

Ok but whats causin it to knock? It only does it when idling, and it stops after I get into 3rd.

A loose damper will move up every half revolution due to the belt tension pulling up. That makes a real loud knocking noise.
