Follow-up to 2000 GMC Jimmy battery won't start -- it's not the battery; it's the Passlock Security System. How do I get past it?

The bells went off and the Security light flashed when I unlocked the door, which they often do, esp. If I lock it with the autolocks. When I turned the key, everything stopped. There's a clicking noise from under the radio after I stop trying to turn the key in the ignition. They key comes out. (All that happened yesterday before the battery was jumped too.) The autolock button in the driver's door won't move any of the locks in the car -- not the individual lock buttons and not the one that does all four doors.

I've checked the manual. It said to try again in 10 minutes, and still nothing. Except the yellow engine light comes on while I'm turning the key to Start. It's on all the time; doesn't re-set after oil changes.

If it's the pass lock system the security light should flash. If it doesn't it's something else. I'll send along the security relarn procdure. To get the oil light to go off turnt hekey on hit the gas pedal to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds wair ril that light flashes then turn it off and startit. You may need to scan the engine for codes as well.

Thanks, and that didn't work. The Security light was not flashing. I tried to start it and left the key in the ignition for 20 minutes while I ate my lunch anyway, and it still won't start.

I assumed it was the Passlock because the Security light was on and the bell ringing until I tried to start the engine and then everything stopped; the autolock won't work; and the key will come in and out, but it's in the Off position and I can turn it counter-clockwise into the Lock position or to run the radio off the battery.

Is there something else I can try? Even to know what it is, if we can't fix it?

You'll have to check to see if htere is an ignition switch problem. That may be why it's stuck or it may have come out of adjustment.

Passlock Security Systems cut off fuel from the engine. Usually, if there is an issue with Passlock, you security light stays solid even when driving. Normally requires to be serviced by someone knowledgeable with this system. I recently started having problems with mine. Truck does not want to start and I can tell it is fuel deprived. I checked my system by rolling down the window, locking the doors, reaching in and manually unlocking the door setting the alarm off. Once I used the key to start the vehicle, it still would not start nor would it turn the alarm off. I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery. Waited. Reattached and she started right up.
If your key is becoming "stuck" in the ignition. Right underneath the key cylinder on the column is a little black cap. Remove that cap. This is the emergency release. Use something long enough to get in there and push up on the button while turning key to the off position. Once I figure out how to by pass the security (if I am able) I'll let everyone know.
