Ford Focus Transmission Leak

I have a 2000 Ford Focus SE Automatic(bought from someone else to fix for wife). Engine and transmission have been replaced from another car but a different year. Transmission keeps hemorrhaging transmission fluid on startup. I was told maybe tranny oil pump. Torque converter seal seemed to be in tight last time I tore it down. Somehow tranny fluid is gushing out the bottom (about 1/2 quart in 5 seconds). After serious thinking and debating. I was wondering if this transmission will even run in this year/model of focus because the transmission part number says its different that what actually came of the car originally. Since these are all electronically controlled. Maybe the computer is not sensing it and thus pressure is building up via open/closed silinoids or valves. This transmission is a PVAB 1S4P-CA. Will this transmission even work on this year/model of focus.(It fits, but will it operate)?

You are correct being concerned about the year, but that won't cause a leak. Where aprox is the trans fluid coming from? You mentioned the front pump seal. When you checked it, did you make sure there was no damaged or wear to the torque converter? Also, is the seal the correct size for the torque converter that is being used?

The engine and transmission came out of the same car and were once hooked up together in that other car. The pump is pretty scarred where the torque converter bushing inserts and the outside of the bushing is scarred as well, so I am told that the pump is bad. I'm thinking the logical thing to do is to scrap that tranny and get the exact one that came out originally. Any idea as to the tranny model number? 2000 Focus SE vin P SOHC automatic

As far as the exact trans, you will need to contact a dealer with your vin number. The torque converter is most likely causing the leak. If it is marked up where it inserts through the front seal into the front pump, it will leak.
