2000 Ford Escort RPM gauge is broken

My rpm gauge is past the red on opposite side where it is suppose to be will that stop my car from cranking over.I did everything on your site for the car cranks but wont start except for scan computer and check plugged exhaust system I'm wondering if its my rpm gauge?

The rpm gauge is usually just bussed information from the PCM/ECM to the cluster. It should have nothing to do with a no start. Does the engine truly 'crank' and not fire, or does it not even crank?

It cranks but wont turn over I changed the fuel pump which was its original problem. I started the car 2 years ago with starting fluid and it would not stay running so I new it was the pump cause it was bad. Now I have a good working fuel system it wont start even using starting fluid. So I checked the compression which the pressure was over 165 in all 4 cyclinders. Then I checked the spark and have spark. The only thing is the rpm gauge is off whack. Not sure how to check the electric cause I changed the crank sensor thinking that could be the problem but it wasn't. Any suggestions?
