Need help with my Dodge Truck

I bought a 2000 dodge ram 1500 5.9 it will not shift out of frist gear so I changed the computer did not work the I changed the kick down cable did not work someone said that if the altanater was not chargeing it would not shift so I got it checked its good what could it be please help

Which computer did you replace? Engine or Transmission? Do you even have a Transmission Computer? My newest service manual is a '99 book and up until then the transmission was not computer-controlled. If it's not up-shifting, that would be a valve body problem.
