2000 Dodge Neon Ignition Cylinder Key Sensor Will Move Cylinder Now

i have a problem with my ignition cylinder, the key has a sensor in it and the key will not move in the cylinder now, can i go to a auto parts store and buy a new cylider and key ,. will this work or do i have i have to get the key programmed to the car? any and all info and how to do this would be great

The key will need programmed for the vehicle. Before getting a new tumbler, try lubericating it first.
