I bought my 2000 dodge intrepid almost a year ago. Ought it in last week to get much the whole front end redone after that the car was fine I drove a twenty minute car ride on the way back the battery light went on. I the battery and now the car interior lights flicker and dim down and the light still goes on. After replacing the replaced the battery and the mechanic who fixed my car said everything will work fine. But it doesn't. Any ideas what else it might be?

Hello,

The battery light gets illuminated when the alternator is unable to charge the battery.
This could be due to a bad alternator or faulty wiring to the battery from the alternator.

If you are still getting the same battery light after the new battery replacement, the first thing you want to do is to test the alternator output to the battery.

Here is a helpful guide:

Also, you want to make sure that the wires are secured and does not have any corrosion buildup on the connectors.

If the alternator is faulty then it will simply drain the good battery and it will stall again. When an engine stalls due to battery being discharged, you won't be able to start it back up.

On this vehicle in order to access the alternator you will have to raise the vehicle and remove the splash shield.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
