2000 Chevrolet Tracker car problems

My car started slowing down on 81 battery light came on and car eventually came to a stop. It will turn over but it won't start. I don't think it's the battery or altinator. But maybe the timing has jumped or maybe it's a fuel pump i'm not sure i'm not mechanically inclined would really appreciate some imput from an expert.

If the timing jumped, it will sound odd when trying to start it. Also, we need to check if there is spark and fuel getting to the engine. If you go to our homepage under the DIY section, there are directions for both and a video. Check that out and let me know what you find. You will need a fuel pressure gauge. Most parts stores will lend you one.
