Engine warning light will go on and off periodically. Think its just a short.

When the truck sits on even a slight incline and I start it up to drive. It basically crawls while idling. If I push on the gas to hard the engine will get popping noises and won't accelerate. I have to let the truck idle for a minute and its fine.

But when I am moving and I step on the gas to merge like on the highway. It doesn't want to shift. I have to let my foot off the gas and give it a moment to shift.

Any ideas?
Thank you

Sounds like a plugged cat from the symptoms I would also have the computer scanned for codes. Also have the exhaust checked for excessive back pressure when its acting up.

Does the truck have a slight rattling noise? If so check the converter when the truck is running. Most times when a converter goes bad some of the pieces break off inside.
