Do the compressor make the motor knock

The motor don't shake, but my wife say she had the same problem with the compressor

If the compressor fails internally, it can make a knocking noise. You need a shop that can remove the belt and see if the noise is gone. If it is, the issue is with a belt driven device. If the noise is still there, then it is internal in the motor.
