2000 BMW 323i

I have a 2000 bmw 323i. When I put it in reverse it does not reverse. It shows up next to the odometer that it is on reverse and the lights in the back work. Everything else works. What can I do to fix this problem without replacing the transmission?

There isn't anything to do. Replacement is called for, the GM tranny is weak in that year for clutch basket failure and a new or rebuilt from BMW transmission would be my first choice.
