What does ETS stand for?

I bought a 1999 volvo S70 GLT about 3 mo.S ago. The ETS light is coming on, but the manual they gave me is for a '98 and makes no mention of it. The dash light section of the manual just says 'space not used'. What is ETS; please?

It stands for Electronic Throttle System. When the light comes on, it indicates there is a problem with the electronic throttle module. You should take it in to Volvo for proper diagnostic, especially if it will need a new throttle module. Replacing the unit requires new software to be downloaded to the new unit. The repair is pretty expensive as well if the unit has failed. Around a $1000.00
