My car (1999 Toyota Celica) sits idle for four months every year. I usually disconnect the positive battery terminal, but half the time the battery is dead after the four months. Today, I bought a battery charger (Shumaker AS-600A) and I am planning on leaving it hooked up for the four months. Is that a good strategy? Or, if I leave the car as is, is it possible to revive a dead battery with the charger?

Bad idea-put the battery in the house for the period of time you're gone and then when you decide to use it-slow charge till it gets up to 12.5 volts then hook-it up

The battery could be a bad battery. Have you thought about buying a new one. This could be the problem.
