My relay has been heating up especially in warm weather shutting down the car. Fuse numbers are 12193604, and 12193602. What is the problem and how to fix? Horrid to have car stop in traffic!
My vehicle is a 99' Saturn SL2.

Which relay is heating up not part number's the actual circuit it feed's. So when the car gets hot it shuts off?Does it restart or do you have to wait? Also when it die's and won't start do you have spark? Also any code's?

I have extra relays that I keep cool and I switch them out or when it tries to die, I speed up. The first is grey and 85 -87 on top and bottom is 86-30. The second is black and has 85-87-87A on top and 86 - 30 on bottom.

So are these relay's in the inside fuse box or the outside fuse box?A lot of those relay's are interchangeable can you look on panel of the fuse box and tell me what the relays go too? That would really help. Also some of the relay's will get hot just from running the power thru them that's normal. You could have something else going on. The fuse box could be faulty and when your changing the relay's in and out it make's the fuse box work for a short time. So I need to know what the relay's go too when the car die's does it have to cool down before it start's also when it die's and won't start do you have spark? Also do you have any code's?

It says it goes to the Window that over heats even though my car doesn't have automatic windows, and also the fuel pump which I had replaced about 6 months ago. Would the fuel pump be messing up like one of the wires is incorrectly hooked up? I'm not sure what codes you mean. When it does die I have to wait for a small period of time for everything to cool down. I have relatively little experience with engines.

So you don't have power window's?The window relay doesn't have anything to do with the car dieing. The fuel pump relay will get hot because it's supplying voltage to the fuel pump while the engine is running. The code's i'm talking about are the trouble code's your computer set's when sensor's fail etc. Go to a auto part's store like auto zone and have them scan your car for code's if you have any please let me know the exact code number's. Also next time it die's and won't start pull off two spark plug wire's off the coil's that are right next to each other crank over the engine and see if spark jump's from post to post.I think you could have a bad crank shaft sensor. Do you have a multimeter?

No I don't have a multimeter. I'm not sure where the spark plug's wires are place in the engine. Thank you for your help. I'll head to auto zone now to get the codes.

I posted a diagram of the coil's that's where I want you to remove the spark plug wire's from that are side by side and look for a spark jumping from post to post. When the car die's and won't start?
