1999 pontiac grand prix 3100 motor auto tans. The trans seems to be stuck in second gear?

You are in safe mode AKA limp mode. The computer has identified a problem with the trans and 2nd gear is basically to get you home or to a shop. Have the computer scanned to identify what is causing the problem.
