My 1999 Grand Am SE will occassionally shut off while I am driving. I have my air conditioning on when it happens so I dont know if that is part of the problem but I always have it on and it occassionally turns off. Im scared of driving in busy roads since I dont know when/if it will shut off again. Since I have power steering, I have a hard time turning off the road to stop my car safely to turn it back on. Any suggestions?

Yes, it will restart right away. But sometimes it will die again 5 minutes later. I had my air conditioner on full blast today since it was a heat advisory, and it died 4 times in less than 20 minutes. I dont know what the code thing means sorry.

Take it to a auto parts store like auto zone and tell them to scan your computer for codes its free. If you have any codes post the exact numbers. You need to see if it will die with the ac off. Also have them test your alternator and battery while your there at the parts store. Also make sure your battery cables are clean and tight that will make your car stall. But check that after you check for codes. The ac compressor could be failing causing the stalling also.
