1999 Pontiac Grand Am idle

After I start my car it wont idle. It surge from 500 to 1500. What do I need to do to fix this issue. Thank.

Replace the idle air control valve (IAC). The IAC is responsible for maintaining the idle.

Let me know if that takes care of it. It is mounted on the throttle body and isn't an expensive part.
