I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am, 4 cyclinder with over 220,000 miles. Up until recently it ran well getting approx. 26-28 miles per gallon. Now it's begining to idle rough & when I stop at lights it's cutting out. Today it stalled out when making a turn. I've also noticed that when I step on the gas pedal I have to hit it harder so I can accelerate. From time to time, the idiot lights will come on telling me the ABS is off along with the Trac.
What do u think the problem is?

Sounds like there might be a problem with the mass air flow sensor. It has to go out of range before it will set a diagnostic fault code. If it is just dirty it could report the wrong amount of air entering the engine so the Engine Computer won't know it needs to command more fuel. Also check for a vacuum leak in a hose or in the air intake tube after the sensor. Any "unmetered" air that gets into the engine won't have the fuel to go with it. That would also show up on a scanner if you watch the switching of the oxygen sensor under "live data".
