Were the spark plugs, ignition coil and fuel injectors checked?

Is the Check Engine Lamp indicating?

The engine chech light came on instantly and went off after it had missed a few times. Not ater that. I have had 3 or four coil packs replaced previously, but it acted differently--more severe miss firing. It only happens after the car heats up after driving 4-5 miles. Then if I let it sit for a while, it seems ok, hen after a while starts acting up again. The gas has been in the car for about 3 months since I haven't driven it much lately.

You would have to plug the vehicle onto a scope to check the conditions of all component when it is misfiring.

As problem only occurs after warming up, it could be a failing sensor. Try to get a scan done to see if there are any trouble codes stored in PCM>
