When I turn off my 1999 mercedes slk 230 it shakes pretty violently.what might it be?

Mine did the same. Even starting up. Definately check both the engine mounts. And tranny mount makes a bid difference in vibration as you drive as well. easy to change. change engine mount ASAP, those violent shakes will lessen the life of suspension parts.
