Hey guys my name is Alan, I have a couple problems with my 99 Lincoln Town car, the first one is that when I try to change gear, for example when I try to change from reverse to drive I have to wait a second other wise it will just kick forward, the second problem is that i've noticed a big difference on the power that it gives recently it used to have a good amount of power when you press on the gas but now there is a lack of power even when it's on park it still shakes, I know it's old but I try to take care of it as much as I can, I hope yall can help me out, thanks and take care.

Shaking is the classic symptom of a misfire. The Check Engine light should be on, and there should be a diagnostic fault code to indicate which cylinder is responsible. Spark plugs and wires are the place to start.

"when I try to change from reverse to drive I have to wait a second other wise it will just kick forward"

I don't know what "kick forward" means. It can take a second to go into a gear, so I'm assuming you're seeing it take longer than normal. That can be expected if the engine is idling slower than normal due to a misfire. I would take care of the misfire first, then look into the transmission if it's still not acting normally.
