My engine light is on with the O/D button blinking. What does that mean? I drive a 1999 kia sephia. Also, when I turn to the left. I hear a viberation or a loud humming noise. I also smell a weird exhaust smell and its louder. What is going on?

Thank you. Sometimes I can smell a weird smell in my car and the car sounds louder when I drive it. Do you think that has to do with the light on or is it something else?
