1999 Hyundai Accent busting of inlet manifold

The inlet manifold got bust and the new one is needed so I want to know what's the couse of it? Couse the machanic told me my timing was wrong that's why it ended up damaging the inlet manifold and I don't understand because it has been running

What did you have it in the shop for when this was "discovered"? The only thing I can think of that would "bust" an intake manifold is overheating. I can't see timing being an issue.
