Ford powerstrke the starter isn't clicking it is engaging and sounds like it spinning but not catching

The starter is engaging and not clicking but it sounds as though the gears have ben stripped ince it's just spinning

Either the solenoid is bad on the starter and not engaging the starter with the flywheel or the gears are stripped. Remove the starter and check the teeth on the flywheel as well as the starter. Next, if they all look okay, have the starter tested. Most parts stores will do it for free.
